There are no modern day prophets or apostles.
The foundation cannot be laid twice.
Ephesians 2:20 says the Church is “built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone.”
Foundation: The apostles and prophets were uniquely commissioned by God to reveal and declare His Word with authority, laying the doctrinal and spiritual groundwork for the Church (Acts 2:42; 2 Peter 3:2).
Cornerstone: Jesus is the unifying source and ultimate authority—not just part of the foundation, but the one who holds it all together (Psalm 118:22; Isaiah 28:16; 1 Peter 2:6).
This foundation is once for all—not continually being relaid.
•There are no new apostles or prophets like those in the first-century Church (Hebrews 1:1–2; Jude 1:3).
•Modern “prophetic movements” that try to add fresh revelation threaten the sufficiency of Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16–17).
•Paul warned about false apostles and deceitful workers (2 Corinthians 11:13–15), especially in the last days (Matthew 24:11, 24).
