The Seven Blackouts In the Bible In his book, Footsteps of the Messiah, Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum describes 7 separate blackouts found in Scripture. Some are localized while others are global. 2 of the blackouts are historical, meaning they have already happened. 5 blackouts will occur in the future.
2 Historical Blackouts
Exodus 10:21
"Then the Lord said to Moses, 'Stretch out your hand toward heaven, and there will be darkness over the land of Egypt, a darkness that can be felt.'"
Matthew 27:45
"From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over the whole land."
5 Future Blackouts
Joel 2:31
"The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood before the great and awe-inspiring Day of the Lord comes."
Rev. 6:12
"Then I saw Him open the sixth seal. A violent earthquake occurred; the sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair; the entire moon became like blood;"
Rev. 9:2
"He opened the shaft of the abyss, and smoke came up out of the shaft like smoke from a great furnace so that the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke from the shaft."
Rev. 16:10
"The fifth poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom was plunged into darkness."
