🔥 Scoffers Will Scoff – But God’s Word Will Not Fail

ðŸ”¥ Scoffers Will Scoff – But God’s Word Will Not Fail

The Spirit of God warned us: scoffers would multiply in the last days. But scoffing is nothing new. It takes three main forms—secular, religious, and cultural—and history shows us examples of each. Their mockery has always failed. Their laughter has always turned to silence. And their sneers only prove prophecy true. ⸻ ▶️ 1. Secular Scoffers – The Mockers of God “Scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing… saying, ‘Where is the promise of His coming?’” (2 Peter 3:3–4). These are the atheists and skeptics who mock the very idea of God’s intervention. 📜 History: Voltaire, the Enlightenment critic, boasted in the 1700s that within 100 years the Bible would be forgotten. Yet after his death, his very home was used to print Bibles. Karl Marx called religion the “opium of the people,” predicting Christianity’s collapse under communism. But the underground church in China—under Marxist oppression—is now the largest in the world. 📖 Peter reminds us that they “deliberately overlook… that the world was deluged with water and perished” (2 Peter 3:5–6). God has judged before—and will again: “By the same word… the earth is stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment” (v. 7). ⸻ ▶️ 2. Religious Scoffers – The Mockers of Prophecy Paul warned: “The time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching… and will turn away from listening to the truth” (2 Timothy 4:3–4). These scoffers do not deny God’s existence, but they scoff at His promises. 📜 History: Augustine (354–430) redefined prophecy allegorically after Israel’s destruction, birthing centuries of Replacement Theology. The Catholic Church followed, declaring the Church had permanently replaced Israel. Later, liberal theologians of the 19th century scoffed at prophecy, claiming the Jews would never return to their land. Yet in 1948, Israel was reborn against all odds, fulfilling Ezekiel 36–37. 📖 God swears by creation itself: “If the sun, moon, and stars depart from before Me, then shall Israel cease from being a nation before Me forever” (Jeremiah 31:35–36). Their mockery cannot cancel His oath. ⸻ ▶️ 3. Cultural Scoffers – The Mockers of Morality “In the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self… proud, arrogant… lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:1–4). These scoffers ridicule God’s moral order, laughing at His design for family, sexuality, and holiness. 📜 History: In the 1800s, Friedrich Nietzsche declared, “God is dead.” He mocked Christian morality as “slave morality.” But within decades, the Nazi regime embraced his philosophy—leading to death camps, war, and moral collapse. Today’s cultural scoffers sneer at biblical truth on gender, sexuality, and life itself—repackaging old rebellion as “progress.” 📖 Isaiah: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil” (Isaiah 5:20). Psalm 2 exposes their rebellion: “The kings of the earth set themselves… against the LORD and His Anointed” (v. 2). Yet heaven responds: “He who sits in the heavens laughs” (v. 4). ⸻ The scoffers of history have all fallen silent. Voltaire is gone, but the Bible endures. Marx is gone, but the church thrives. Nietzsche is gone, but God still reigns. Every sneer is a prophecy fulfilled. And soon, “every knee shall bow… and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord” (Philippians 2:10–11). ⸻ “The laughter of scoffers is the drumbeat before judgment. Their denial is not proof against prophecy, but proof of prophecy.” – John MacArthur ⸻
