One Messiah, Two Missions: The Prophecies No One Can Deny
One Messiah, Two Missions: The Prophecies No One Can Deny
Many expected two Messiahs—
One to suffer (Mashiach ben Yosef),
One to reign (Mashiach ben David).
But what if the Hebrew Scriptures always pointed to One?
One Messiah. Two missions.
One came to die. The other… to reign.
Let’s walk through the undeniable prophecies
⸻
1. The Clock Ran Out – Daniel 9:25–26
“Know therefore and understand that from the going out of the word to restore and build Jerusalem to the coming of an anointed one (מָשִׁיחַ), a prince, there shall be seven weeks. Then for sixty-two weeks…
And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off and shall have nothing.
And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.”
— Daniel 9:25–26
Fulfillment:
483 prophetic years after the decree to rebuild Jerusalem (~445 BC) leads to the time of Yeshua’s ministry.
Soon after, He was cut off (crucified), and in 70 AD, the temple was destroyed.
If Messiah didn’t come before 70 AD, He cannot come later. The prophetic window is closed.
⸻
2. The Suffering Servant – Isaiah 53:5–6, 8
“But He was pierced for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our iniquities;
upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with His wounds we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray…
and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all…
He was cut off out of the land of the living…”
Fulfillment:
Yeshua bore our sins, was pierced, rejected, and executed—not for His sin, but ours (Matthew 27, Acts 8:32–35).
⸻
3. Crucified – Psalm 22:16–18
“For dogs encompass me;
a company of evildoers encircles me;
they have pierced my hands and feet—
I can count all my bones—
they stare and gloat over me;
they divide my garments among them,
and for my clothing they cast lots.”
Fulfillment:
This vivid description—written 1,000 years before Jesus—matches the Roman crucifixion of Yeshua precisely (John 19:23–24, 37).
⸻
4. Peaceful King Enters Jerusalem – Zechariah 9:9
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you;
righteous and having salvation is He,
humble and mounted on a donkey…”
Fulfillment:
Yeshua enters Jerusalem on a donkey to the cries of “Hosanna to the Son of David!” (Matthew 21:4–9)
⸻
5. Rejected, but Exalted – Psalm 118:22–23
“The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.
This is the LORD’s doing;
it is marvelous in our eyes.”
Fulfillment:
Yeshua quoted this about Himself (Matthew 21:42), and Peter repeated it in Acts 4:11.
⸻
6. The Everlasting King – Isaiah 9:6–7
“For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon His shoulder…
Of the increase of His government and of peace
there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over
Fulfillment:
Yeshua was born of David’s line (Luke 1:32–33) and will return to reign forever (Revelation 19:11–16).
⸻
7. The Son of Man Will Return – Daniel 7:13–14
“I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven
there came One like a Son of Man,
and He came to the Ancient of Days…
And to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him;
His dominion is an everlasting dominion…”
Fulfillment:
Yeshua often called Himself “the Son of Man.” This is His Second Coming, when every eye will see Him (Revelation 1:7).
⸻
Two Missions. One Messiah. No Denial.
Mashiach ben Yosef – Came to suffer, be rejected, and bear our sins
Mashiach ben David – Will return to reign in power and glory over Israel and the nations
“Then they will look on Me, the One they have pierced.” – Zechariah 12:10
“Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him…” – Revelation 1:7
⸻
Final Word
The prophecies are not vague.
The timeline is not open-ended.
The suffering Messiah has come.
The reigning King is on His way.
