This claim is false and reflects a misunderstanding of both the Old and New Testaments. God’s Covenant with Israel Is Everlasting
Genesis 17:7 – “I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you… for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.”
The covenant with Abraham and his descendants (the Israelites) is eternal, not temporary or conditional.
⸻
God Still Calls Israel His Chosen People
Deuteronomy 7:6 – “For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession.”
This was not revoked in the New Testament. God’s love for Israel remains.
⸻
Paul Affirms Israel’s Unique Calling
Romans 11:1–2 – “Has God rejected his people? By no means!… God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew.”
Paul (a Jew himself) emphatically denies that Israel has been replaced. In fact, Romans 11 warns Gentile believers not to become arrogant toward Israel.
⸻
The Church and Israel Are DistinctRomans 11:17–18 – “Do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you.”
Gentile believers are grafted into the promises, not the replacement of Israel.
⸻
God’s Promises Will Be Fulfilled
Jeremiah 31:35–36 – “Thus says the Lord… If this fixed order departs… then shall the offspring of Israel cease from being a nation before me forever.” As long as the sun and moon exist, Israel remains a nation before God.
⸻
QUICK SUMMARY:
•God chose Israel and still calls them His people.
•The Church is not Israel.
•Believing Gentiles are grafted in, not swapped in.
•Romans 11 explicitly warns against this false idea.
⸻
“For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.”
— Romans 11:29
