1. Jesus taught about eternal separation
Matthew 25:46 – “And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
Same Greek word for “eternal” in both punishment and life (aiōnios). You can’t say one is temporary and the other isn’t.

2. Hell is not redemptive
Hell isn’t pictured as a place of refinement or second chances. It’s described as:
•
“Unquenchable fire” (Mark 9:43)
•
“Outer darkness” (Matthew 8:12)
•
“Where their worm does not die” (Isaiah 66:24; quoted in Mark 9:48)
None of these suggest a future release or restoration. Quite the opposite.
⸻
3. Universalism undermines the urgency of salvation
If everyone is saved in the end, then:
•Why preach the gospel now?
•Why did Jesus warn so frequently about hell?
•Why are there so many urgent calls to “repent today” (2 Corinthians 6:2)?
⸻
4. Revelation is clear — some are never written in the Book of Life
Revelation 20:15 – “If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”
This is after final judgment. No more chances. No escape.
⸻
5. God respects human choice
God doesn’t force salvation. Love must be chosen. The rebellious in hell are there not because God failed, but because they eternally rejected Him (John 3:19–20)
“If you’re wrong about eternity, you’re wrong enough.” – Leonard Ravenhill
⸻
Let’s be salt and light
Let’s preach the gospel boldly
Let’s never distort God’s holy justice to make it more “palatable.”
Hell is real.
But so is salvation through Christ — today is the day of salvation.
