It's really no surprise that the world keeps questioning everything about Israel and then offering wrong or incomplete perspectives. On and on the world rambles, blathering about with very few looking for or providing answers from the appropriate source.
God's Word is the authoritative source on matters, especially on Israel and the Jewish people.
Why?
God is the One who formed Israel (Is. 44:2) God called Abraham out of the nations and formed a peculiar people, for Himself. Israel is His idea. For that reason alone the world opposes them.
What about the land?
God is the One who gifted this peculiar people a special land for the duration of "לְמִן־עוֹלָ֖ם וְעַד־עוֹלָֽם"
Isn't God was done with land & borders?
This Hebrew phrase, מִן־עוֹלָ֖ם וְעַד־עוֹלָֽם, is only used of God's enduring characteristics, such as His eternal kingship (Ps. 90:2), and His everlasting mercy (Ps. 103:17). Outside of being used for God's eternal character, it's used of one other thing: God's gift of land to Israel. So, God is not done with land and borders. The land, like the people, was His idea. For that reason alone, the world opposes them and their habitation of the land.
There is no stronger possible expression in the Hebrew language to indicate eternality. If One agrees that God's characteristic of lovingkindness is eternal, then it must also be agreed that God's gift of land to the Jewish people is eternal. To deny one, is to deny the other.
We must remember that Israel was not the world's creation. It was God's creation. Just as God ideated and created the Heavens & the Earth, animals, stars, planets, gravity, and a host of other things, so He ideated and created Israel and the nations (Jer. 31:31 -34).
Therefore, perspectives about Israel and the Jewish people must be sourced in God's authoritative Word, not the world. Not CNN. Not FoxNews. Not professors, journalists, scientists or your friendly neighbors. Not well-meaning people. Just God's Word.
Does this mean I have to agree with everything the modern state of Israel does and says?
Absolutely not. Israelis themselves are very divided about decisions made by the government. Governments are not perfect because they are full of people. But beware of applying a standard of perfection to Israel No one can live up to that. Also, beware of applying a double standard to Israel that is not applied to any other country. Are we critical of other countries in the same way we are critical of Israel? When Israel is compared to other countries in a similar situation, how are they doing? Israel is not perfect, but they are also not the demon that the world makes them out to be.
Ultimately, we want to adopt God's heart. We want to care about the things He cares about. To love the things He loves. To hate the things He hates. The Word of God makes it abundantly clear: God has chosen Israel, He loves Israel and He will restore Israel. He loves Israel and is jealous for her. He will not forget her or forsake her.
We should embrace His perspective for ourselves, not the world's perspective.
