From the Cross to the Crown: How Calvary Foreshadows Armageddon

From the Cross to the Crown: How Calvary Foreshadows Armageddon The cross wasn’t just the climax of history, it also casts a shadow forward into the future. Good Friday is both the foundation of our salvation and the framework of judgment and redemption in the last days. ⸻ ▶️ 1. The Cross Is the Basis for the End-Time Judgments “…for He has fixed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom He has appointed…” — Acts 17:31 Good Friday was the day Jesus bore the wrath of God for sin. But those who reject His sacrifice will face His wrath in the Tribulation (Revelation 6:16–17). The Cross divides the ages: •Those who receive the Lamb’s sacrifice are saved. •Those who reject Him will face the Lamb’s fury (Revelation 6:16; 14:10). The wrath of the Lamb is only understandable in light of the mercy of the Cross. ⸻ ▶️ 2. The Crucifixion Fulfilled Prophecy—Guaranteeing Future Fulfillment “They have pierced my hands and feet.” — Psalm 22:16 “He was cut off out of the land of the living.” — Isaiah 53:8 Jesus fulfilled the prophetic symbolism of the Passover Lamb in stunning detail: ▶️ Lamb without blemish — “Your lamb shall be without blemish…” — Exodus 12:5   Fulfilled: “He committed no sin…” — 1 Peter 2:22 ▶️ No bones broken — “You shall not break any of its bones.” — Exodus 12:46   Fulfilled: “They did not break His legs…” — John 19:33 ▶️ Blood for protection — “When I see the blood, I will pass over you…” — Exodus 12:13   Fulfilled: “We have now been justified by His blood…” — Romans 5:9 Good Friday fulfilled dozens of specific Messianic prophecies. If prophecy was literally fulfilled at Jesus’ first coming, then we can trust it will be literally fulfilled at His second coming. The Cross validates the reliability of prophecy. And since so many remain—like Israel’s restoration, Christ’s reign, and final judgments—Good Friday gives us bold confidence in Revelation’s accuracy. ⸻ ▶️ 3. Jesus as the Passover Lamb Prefigures Future Deliverance “Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.” — 1 Corinthians 5:7 Jesus died during Passover, fulfilling the type from Exodus. Just as Israel was shielded by the blood of the lamb, Tribulation Saints will overcome the Antichrist “by the blood of the Lamb” (Revelation 12:11). This connects to the Second Exodus of believing Israel to Petra (Revelation 12:14), when God again shelters His people during judgment. ⸻ ▶️ 4. The Cross Was the First Strike in the Final War “He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.” — Colossians 2:15 The Cross wasn’t just redemption—it was a military victory. Satan was defeated, but not yet destroyed. Good Friday was the first crushing of the serpent’s head (Genesis 3:15). That crushing will be completed at the Second Coming: •“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” — Romans 16:20 •“The devil…was thrown into the lake of fire…” — Revelation 20:10▶️ 5. The Crucifixion Marks the Beginning of God’s End-Time Mercy “It is finished.” — John 19:30 This declaration opened the door to the Church Age, the Age of Grace—which will end at the Rapture. Then comes judgment. Good Friday is the starting line for: •The Gospel going to the Gentiles — Acts 1:8 •The sealing of the 144,000 Jewish witnesses — Revelation 7 •The ultimate defeat of death and Satan — Revelation 20:14Good Friday isn’t just a backward glance—it’s a forward promise. The suffering Servant will return as the conquering King. The Lamb who was slain will become the Lion of Judah (Revelation 5:5–6). His blood speaks now—and will one day speak again in judgment and vindication.“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8
