Are We Currently in the Millennial Kingdom?
Some people claim we're in the Millennium right now. Others say it already happened sometime in the past, usually in some vague, spiritualized way that can't be backed up with actual scripture.
Before you accept that, I encourage you to pause and look at what the Bible really says. Then ask yourself honestly:
Has Satan truly been bound and unable to deceive anyone for the last 1,000 years?
Has there been lasting peace on earth with no more war or violence?
Have wild animals stopped being wild - lions lying down with lambs, wolves eating grass like oxen?
Are all the nations of the world traveling to Jerusalem every year to worship Jesus?
Have deserts started blooming and waters sprung up in dry places - not just from irrigation, but as part of a supernatural restoration?
Is the entire earth filled with the knowledge of the Lord the way the ocean is filled with water?
If even one of those things isn’t happening -and none of them are or have in the past - then how can we possibly claim we’re living in the time the Bible calls the Millennium?
God doesn’t speak in riddles when it comes to this.
He gave us specifics.
He told us what to watch for.
And we are not seeing it because it hasn’t happened yet.
So what I'm sharing in this thread is a straightforward list of what the Bible actually says the Millennium will be like.
Read it. Compare it to the world around you.
You’ll see very quickly that we’re not there yet.
Let’s look at 20 scriptures that are about the millennium:
Satan is bound and can no longer deceive the nations
An angel binds Satan with a great chain and casts him into the abyss, sealing him for 1,000 years so he cannot deceive the nations.
Scripture: Revelation 20:1–3 (NKJV)
Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;
and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.
Jesus physically reigns on earth with resurrected saints
Revelation describes thrones for the martyrs and those who did not worship the beast, raising and reigning with Christ for 1,000 years—a literal, bodily reign.
Scripture: Revelation 20:4–6 (NKJV)
And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them.
Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God,
who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands.
And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished.
This is the first resurrection.
Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection.
Over such the second death has no power,
but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.
Global peace—no more war, no more military conflict
Nations stream to the Lord’s temple to learn from Him. They cease war and convert swords into plowshares.
Scripture: Isaiah 2:2–4; Micah 4:1–4 (NKJV)
Isaiah 2:2–4 (NKJV):
Now it shall come to pass in the latter days
That the mountain of the Lord’s house
Shall be established on the top of the mountains,
And shall be exalted above the hills;
And all nations shall flow to it.
Many people shall come and say,
“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
To the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths.”
For out of Zion shall go forth the law,
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
He shall judge between the nations,
And rebuke many people;
They shall beat their swords into plowshares,
And their spears into pruning hooks;
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
Neither shall they learn war anymore.
Micah 4:1–4 (NKJV):
Now it shall come to pass in the latter days
That the mountain of the Lord’s house
Shall be established on the top of the mountains,
And shall be exalted above the hills;
And peoples shall flow to it.
Many nations shall come and say,
“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
To the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths.”
For out of Zion the law shall go forth,
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
He shall judge between many peoples,
And rebuke strong nations afar off;
They shall beat their swords into plowshares,
And their spears into pruning hooks;
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
Neither shall they learn war anymore.
But everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree,
And no one shall make them afraid;
For the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken.
Weapons are repurposed into tools of life
Swords become pruning hooks; instruments of war are transformed into instruments of cultivation.
Scripture: Isaiah 2:4 (NKJV)
He shall judge between the nations,
And rebuke many people;
They shall beat their swords into plowshares,
And their spears into pruning hooks;
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
Neither shall they learn war anymore.
The earth is full of the knowledge of the Lord
God’s glory and knowledge fill the earth completely—just as seas are filled with water.
Scripture: Isaiah 11:9; Habakkuk 2:14 (NKJV)
Isaiah 11:9 (NKJV):
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,
For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord
As the waters cover the sea.
Habakkuk 2:14 (NKJV):
For the earth will be filled
With the knowledge of the glory of the Lord,
As the waters cover the sea.
Predators live in peace with prey—curse on nature lifted
Lions, wolves, bears, and leopards live peacefully with lambs, goats, and calves—a restored ecosystem.
Scripture: Isaiah 11:6–8; 65:25 (NKJV)
Isaiah 11:6–8 (NKJV):
The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
The leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
The calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
And a little child shall lead them.
The cow and the bear shall graze;
Their young ones shall lie down together;
And the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole,
And the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den.
Isaiah 65:25 (NKJV):
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together,
The lion shall eat straw like the ox,
And dust shall be the serpent’s food.
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,”
Says the Lord.
Children play safely near once-deadly animals
Even infants will play safely among former predators without fear or harm.
Scripture: Isaiah 11:8 (NKJV)
The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole,
And the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den.
Lifespans increase—people live for centuries again
Lifespans clearly increase, but “centuries” is inferred. A 100-year-old is considered a youth.
Scripture: Isaiah 65:20–22 (NKJV)
“No more shall an infant from there live but a few days,
Nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days;
For the child shall die one hundred years old,
But the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed.
They shall build houses and inhabit them;
They shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
They shall not build and another inhabit;
They shall not plant and another eat;
For as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people,
And My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.”
Deserts bloom—creation is restored and fruitful
The wilderness blossoms and deserts rejoice with flowers and flowing water.
Scripture: Isaiah 35:1–2, 6–7 (NKJV)
Isaiah 35:1–2 (NKJV):
The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them,
And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose;
It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice,
Even with joy and singing.
The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,
The excellence of Carmel and Sharon.
They shall see the glory of the Lord,
The excellency of our God.
Isaiah 35:6–7 (NKJV):
Then the lame shall leap like a deer,
And the tongue of the dumb sing.
For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness,
And streams in the desert.
The parched ground shall become a pool,
And the thirsty land springs of water;
In the habitation of jackals, where each lay,
There shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
The blind see, deaf hear, lame walk, mute speak
Physical healings are widespread—restoring broken bodies as a sign of Christ’s reign.
Scripture: Isaiah 35:5–6 (NKJV)
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
Then the lame shall leap like a deer,
And the tongue of the dumb sing.
For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness,
And streams in the desert.

Jesus reigns from Jerusalem—nations come to worship
Nations go yearly to the Lord’s house in Jerusalem to worship and learn His ways.
Scripture: Zechariah 14:16–17; Isaiah 2:3 (NKJV)
Zechariah 14:16–17 (NKJV):
And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem
shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts,
and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.
And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem
to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, on them there will be no rain.
Isaiah 2:3 (NKJV):
Many people shall come and say,
“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
To the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths.”
For out of Zion shall go forth the law,
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Feast of Tabernacles is observed worldwide
Survivors from all nations are required to keep this annual festival in Jerusalem.
Scripture: Zechariah 14:16–19 (NKJV)
And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem
shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts,
and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.
And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth
do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts,
on them there will be no rain.
If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in,
they shall have no rain;
they shall receive the plague with which the Lord strikes the nations
who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.
This shall be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations
that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.

Nations that refuse to worship face drought or plague
Those refusing to attend the feast face judgment—a drought or plague (noted especially for Egypt).
Scripture: Zechariah 14:17–19 (NKJV)
And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth
do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts,
on them there will be no rain.
If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in,
they shall have no rain;
they shall receive the plague with which the Lord strikes the nations
who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.
This shall be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations
that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.

All people will speak with a purified language
God purifies humanity’s speech so all can call on His name together.
Scripture: Zephaniah 3:9 (NKJV)
“For then I will restore to the peoples a pure language,
That they all may call on the name of the Lord,
To serve Him with one accord."

Justice and righteousness reign
The Messiah judges with wisdom and equity—bringing true justice across the earth.
Scripture: Isaiah 11:3–5; Jeremiah 23:5–6 (NKJV)
Isaiah 11:3–5 (NKJV):
His delight is in the fear of the Lord,
And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes,
Nor decide by the hearing of His ears;
But with righteousness He shall judge the poor,
And decide with equity for the meek of the earth;
He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth,
And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.
Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins,
And faithfulness the belt of His waist.
Jeremiah 23:5–6 (NKJV):
“Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord,
“That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness;
A King shall reign and prosper,
And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.
In His days Judah will be saved,
And Israel will dwell safely;
Now this is His name by which He will be called:
THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

Joy and gladness replace sorrow and mourning
Sorrow flees away; gladness abounds and mourning is no more as joy takes its place.
Scripture: Isaiah 35:10; 65:18–19 (NKJV)
Isaiah 35:10 (NKJV):
And the ransomed of the Lord shall return,
And come to Zion with singing,
With everlasting joy on their heads.
They shall obtain joy and gladness,
And sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
Isaiah 65:18–19 (NKJV):
But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create;
For behold, I create Jerusalem as a rejoicing,
And her people a joy.
I will rejoice in Jerusalem,
And joy in My people;
The voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her,
Nor the voice of crying.

People build homes and enjoy their labor
They build, dwell, plant vineyards, and reap the fruit of their labor without frustration.
Scripture: Isaiah 65:21–23 (NKJV)
They shall build houses and inhabit them;
They shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
They shall not build and another inhabit;
They shall not plant and another eat;
For as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people,
And My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
They shall not labor in vain,
Nor bring forth children for trouble;
For they shall be the descendants of the blessed of the Lord,
And their offspring with them.

No more infant mortality or premature death for the righteous
Infant death is gone and lifespans are full; death only comes at the proper time.
Scripture: Isaiah 65:20 (NKJV)
“No more shall an infant from there live but a few days,
Nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days;
For the child shall die one hundred years old,
But the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed.”

God is worshiped globally, not just in Israel
All nations—from the rising to the setting of the sun—come to worship the Lord.
Scripture: Isaiah 66:18–23; Malachi 1:11 (NKJV)
Isaiah 66:18–23 (NKJV):
“For I know their works and their thoughts. It shall be that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come and see My glory.
I will set a sign among them; and those among them who escape I will send to the nations: to Tarshish and Pul and Lud, who draw the bow,
and Tubal and Javan, to the coastlands afar off who have not heard My fame nor seen My glory.
And they shall declare My glory among the Gentiles.
Then they shall bring all your brethren for an offering to the Lord out of all nations,
on horses and in chariots and in litters, on mules and on camels,
to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the Lord,
“as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord.
And I will also take some of them for priests and Levites,” says the Lord.
“For as the new heavens and the new earth
Which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the Lord,
“So shall your descendants and your name remain.
And it shall come to pass
That from one New Moon to another,
And from one Sabbath to another,
All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.
Malachi 1:11 (NKJV):
For from the rising of the sun, even to its going down,
My name shall be great among the Gentiles;
In every place incense shall be offered to My name,
And a pure offering;
For My name shall be great among the nations,”
Says the Lord of hosts.

After 1,000 years, Satan is released briefly—then destroyed forever
Satan is released after the thousand years, deceives nations once more, and is ultimately cast into the lake of fire.
Scripture: Revelation 20:7–10 (NKJV)
Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison
and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog,
to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.
They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city.
And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.
The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone
where the beast and the false prophet are.
And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
